Facts and practical information
The Church of Our Lady of the Angels of Llivia, is located in the town of Llivia in the region of Lower Cerdanya. It dates from the sixteenth century and is built on another of the thirteenth century, taking advantage of the rest of the materials. The church was completely finished during the year 1617. It has a single nave with a polygonal apse, side chapels and a bell tower attached to it. The façade, Renaissance, is ornamented with columns, niches and pediment, with a circular tower on both sides.
The ironwork on the door dates from the end of the 13th century, and inside there is a carved wooden Christ from the middle of the 14th century, protector of the muleteers who transported oil and wine from Roussillon to Cerdanya. The tombstones located on the outside of the church are sculpted in relief and date from between the 15th and 18th centuries. Among the exhibition of objects we find a carved Christ of Romanesque-Gothic transition that inspired the famous French author Deodac de Severac his musical composition: Les muletiers devant le Crist de Llivia. There is also a pluvial cloak and dalmatic, a gift of Charles I to the town of Llivia.
