The Museum of Military History of Castellón accumulates and manages a wide museum and documentary collection about the different historical-military events that took place in the province of Castellón or those others, occurred far from Castellón, in which the inhabitants of Castellón have had an outstanding role.
As could be deduced from its name, the entity does not belong to or depend in any way on the Ministry of Defence. It is managed and owned by the civil association Aula Militar Bermúdez de Castro.
The collection comes mainly from private donations, but also from its own acquisitions and from the deposit and custody of pieces owned by third parties. The Museum of Military History of Castellón exhibits around a thousand pieces and in the storerooms there are 4,500 more. It was inaugurated on 11th March 2003 by the Mayor of Castellón, Mr. José Luis Gimeno Ferrer, and its opening was made possible thanks to the collaboration of: Castellón de la Plana City Council, Castellón Provincial Council, Dávalos-Fletcher Foundation, Caixa Castelló Bancaixa Foundation, Port of Castellón.
