The church of Santa María La Mayor is an outstanding example of Romanesque religious architecture in southern Cantabria. The current temple dates from the 12th century and is located in the town of Villacantid, in the heart of the municipality of Hermandad de Campoo de Suso, 6 km from Reinosa.

The church is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest and has housed the Romanesque Interpretation Centre since 2005.
