Jaffna Public Library, Jaffna

The Jaffna Public Library is a beacon of knowledge and culture in the heart of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Once holding the status of being one of the largest libraries in Asia, it boasts an extensive collection of invaluable palm leaf manuscripts, historical documents, and contemporary literature.

Tragically, the library was the target of arson in 1981, which resulted in the loss of thousands of manuscripts and books, a devastating blow to the Tamil community.
