Facts About Bråvalla Festival
The Bråvalla Festival was one of Sweden’s most beloved and largest music festivals, drawing crowds for four days of incredible performances each year. Held at Bråvalla Flygflottilj near Norrköping, it quickly became a must-attend event for music enthusiasts across the country.
The festival debuted from June 27 to 29, 2013, with an impressive lineup that included headliners such as Rammstein, Green Day, and Avicii. Over the years, Bråvalla continued to attract top-tier talent, featuring acts such as Iron Maiden, Kanye West, Kings of Leon, Robbie Williams, Muse, and Calvin Harris from 2014 to 2017.
Organized by FKP Scorpio, the festival saw a surprising surge in attendance from the outset. Initially expecting around 40,000 attendees in 2013, they ended up selling 51,590 tickets. This record was slightly surpassed in 2014 with 51,683 tickets sold. However, 2014 also witnessed a tragic event when lightning struck during the festival, injuring several attendees and leaving one person with life-threatening injuries.
Despite its popularity, the festival faced significant challenges. On July 1, 2017, FKP Scorpio announced that the 2018 Bråvalla Festival would be canceled due to a series of sexual assaults that had occurred during the event. This decision marked a somber end to what had been a vibrant and highly anticipated annual celebration.
The festival featured a variety of stages to cater to different tastes: Panorama (the main stage), Luna, Juno, Sensation (for electronic dance music), Pacific, and the Norrköping Lounge (for stand-up comedy). Each stage offered a unique experience, making Bråvalla a diverse and dynamic festival.
