Facts and practical information
Rademachersmedjorna is an open-air museum in central Eskilstuna with preserved forges from the 17th century. The oldest smithies in the area were part of the finishing forge manufactory that was established in Eskilstuna in the 1650s. The area is named after Reinhold Rademacher, who was the first manager of the manufactory. Unlike many other open-air museums, the buildings have not been moved to the site, but remain in the same place where they were once built. The 17th-century forges are Eskilstuna's oldest surviving buildings.
