Anundshögsstenen
Facts and practical information
Runic stone from Badeluunda - a rune stone located in Badelunda near Västerås in the Swedish province of Västmanland.
The granite boulder is 3.2 m high. It is dated to the first half of the 11th century. It stands at the foot of the Anundshög barrow, in the former Ting field. Nearby there are also 2 larger and 3 smaller megalithic circles, arranged in the shape of a boat. The stone is accompanied by a government of 14 smaller boulders, discovered during archaeological works carried out in 1960-1961. Right next to it is the former royal road, the so -called "Dear Eryka", which the Swedish kings after coronation went to the ting field to take part in the meeting with the people.
On the surface of the stone there is a runic inscription, running around the mysterious drawing, the interpretation of which is problematic. The content of the inscription is: × Fulkuiþr × Raisti × Staina × þasi × ala × at × sun × sin × hþin × bruþur × anutar × uraiþr hik × runarco means: Folkvidh raised all these stones for his son Hedhen, brother Anunda; Vredh carved these runes.
