Casino Cosmopol in Stockholm is one of three state-owned casinos in Sweden with the name Casino Cosmopol.
The casino is located at Kungsgatan 65 in central Stockholm on Norrmalm, in a space that has been a nightclub, cinema and dance restaurant over the years. Since March 2003 it is a casino. There are 36 gaming tables and 399 slot machines. The casino employs about 450 people, one third of the total staff of the four casinos. The manager of the casino is Therese Liljeqvist. Operations are managed by the Shift Manager, security is coordinated by the Operation Security Manager, and the kitchen and restaurant are managed by the Restaurant Service Manager. The casino has an à la carte restaurant and three bars.
On 15 July 2008, a robbery took place at the casino and the perpetrators got hold of an unknown amount of money. A week later, three people were arrested on suspicion of the robbery. This was the first time a casino had been robbed in Sweden.
On Christmas Eve 2008, a security guard and two guests were injured when a man fired a gun at the entrance. The perpetrator was later sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted murder, aggravated assault and unlawful threats.
Casino Cosmopol in Stockholm was closed between 29 March 2020 and 7 July 2021 due to the restrictions surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.
