Gränbystaden is a commercial area in the district of Gränby in north-eastern Uppsala. The area consists of the shopping centre formerly known as Gränby Centrum and a volume retail section with independent shops and restaurants. The retail area contains 140 shops, 25 restaurants and service outlets, as well as 2 600 parking spaces for cars and 500 bicycle racks. In 2017, the first rental apartments will move in, and they too will be part of Gränby City. The shopping centre was opened on 13 October 1971 and has doubled in size over four phases between 2008 and 2012 to a total of 46,000 square metres. In 2016, the shopping centre had a turnover of almost 2.5 billion.
