The Castles of Bellinzona, a trio of fortifications located in the city of Bellinzona, Switzerland, stand as majestic reminders of medieval times. These castles, named Castelgrande, Montebello, and Sasso Corbaro, are strategically placed to guard the Alpine passes and are a testament to the region's historical importance in controlling trade and travel between northern and southern Europe.

Castelgrande, the oldest and most prominent of the three, is situated on a rocky peak overlooking the town. It has been a fortress site since Roman times, but the current structure dates back to the medieval period. The castle complex includes two imposing towers, Torre Bianca and Torre Nera, and a series of walls that allowed for strong defensive capabilities. The youngest castle, Sasso Corbaro, stands on a higher ground further up the hillside. Constructed in just six months in 1479, it served as a refuge and a strategic lookout. Although it is the smallest of the three, its elevated position provides commanding views of the Ticino region.

The Castles of Bellinzona were collectively designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, recognizing their unique value and state of preservation as examples of late medieval defensive architecture. They are an integral part of the cultural heritage of Switzerland and a significant tourist attraction.
