Evang.-Ref. Kirche Erlen
Facts and practical information
The Erlen Reformed Church is a baroque country church by master builder Hans Ulrich Grubenmann in Erlen in the canton of Thurgau.
Built in 1764, the hall church with a front tower and a three-sided end is Grubenmann's smallest church building. Despite financial concerns of the villagers, the architect insisted on the execution of a brick tower and is said to have given them a bell as a thank you for their approval of his building plan. Grubenmann executed the roof construction with a suspended bridge-type structure.
The original pulpit from 1764 has been preserved. However, the rococo stuccos by Johann Georg Graf were removed, and only reconstructed in 1999 by Emil Heimgartner.
