Caesarea Philippi, is one of several names under which an ancient city located at the southwestern base of Mount Hermon was known during the Roman period, after being previously known during the Hellenistic period as Paneas. This article deals with the history of the city between the Hellenistic and the Early Islamic period, all up to the arrival of the Crusaders. Now nearly uninhabited, Caesarea Philippi is an archaeological site in the Golan Heights and is administered by Israel as a national park. ()
