The Anping Branch Office of the Tainan Branch of the Taiwan Governor's Office is located in the Anping District of Tainan City, and was declared a municipal monument by the Tainan City Government on May 13, 2002. The building was one of the four branches of the Salt Affairs Division of the Tainan Regional Monopoly Bureau during the Japanese rule in Taiwan, and was responsible for managing the collection, sale, inspection and other related affairs of salt. Originally, during the Japanese rule period, there were also coal dumps in the east, the Taiwan Salt Manufacturing Corporation office and the boiling salt factory in the west, the salt laboratory and test factory in the north, and the test salt field in the south. In addition, there were 16 salt offices throughout Taiwan during the Japanese period, and this building is one of the only remaining salt offices.
