Climate of Timor Leste
Timor-Leste lies in a humid sub-equatorial climate zone. There is a distinct dry and rainy season, which runs slightly differently in different regions of the country.
The dry season lasts from May to November and is associated with the influx of dry, continental air masses from over Australia. The temperature during this time ranges from 20°C - 33°C, rainfall is low at around 550 mm to 1,000 mm. By the end of October, humidity increases (amplified by monsoon clouds).
The rainy season lasts from December to April. The northwest monsoon brings an increase in temperature, which fluctuates between 29°C - 35°C, thunderstorms and heavy rains occur. Local floods and landslides may occur. This is the time when the country is overgrown with lush vegetation.
Mountainous areas tend to be slightly cooler and wetter. Annual rainfall is up to 3,000 mm.
