Facts About Rock'n Coke
Rock'n Coke was one of Turkey's premier rock festivals, brought to life by Coca-Cola at the Hezarfen Airfield in Istanbul. Over the years, it hosted prominent acts such as Limp Bizkit, Motörhead, Travis, Moby, Nine Inch Nails, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, and many more. The event was organized by Pozitif, a well-known Turkish concert promoter, and was part of the European Festivals Association.
The festival was a diverse celebration of music genres. While the main stage was dedicated to rock in its various forms, the DJ Arena featured house music. In 2005, Rock'n Coke expanded its festival grounds to include two stages, an amusement park, food areas, shopping stalls, sponsor attractions, and camping facilities.
Originally an annual event, Rock'n Coke took hiatuses in 2008 and 2010, transitioning to a biennial schedule. It returned in 2011, running from September 6-8, extending its duration to provide fans more time to enjoy the festivities. The festival became a cornerstone of Turkey’s music scene, attracting crowds who would spend approximately 2.5 days camping and immersing themselves in the experience.
One of the standout years was 2009, held at Istanbul Park, featuring powerhouse performances by The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, Linkin Park, and Kaiser Chiefs, among others. Beyond the main acts, the festival also offered various alternate stages with diverse artists. Major media sponsors like Kanal D and Dream TV helped bring the festival to a broader audience.
Rock'n Coke was part of a grand tradition of large-scale music festivals, standing shoulder to shoulder with giants like the Sziget Festival, Glastonbury, and Roskilde.
