Melek-Chesme kurghan, Kerch

Kurhan Melek-Czemienski--one of the mounds of Pantikapajon necropolis, located in the center of modern Kercz. He probably belonged to the rich inhabitant of the Bosphorus from the second half of the 4th century BC
Kurhan was discovered in 1853 by the director of the Kerczan Museum of Antiquities Alexndra Lyutsenko. During archaeological work in Kurhan, residues of grave equipment and jewelry were found. The original dimensions are estimated at: 12 meters high and about 60 meters of radius. The barrow covered the square -shaped grave and a 9 m long corridor leading to it. The chamber and corridor is built of a hewn stone laid without mortar.
It is currently located at the Kercz bus station. It has a mini museum, admission paid.
