Facts About Dubai Music Week
Dubai Music Week is a prominent five-day music festival held annually in mid-September at the Dubai International Convention Centre. Launched in 2013 through a collaboration between the Global Gumbo Group and the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event is brimming with concerts, conferences, and exhibitions designed to spotlight leading global music talent and entertainment companies. Its primary objective is to foster innovation in the live entertainment and music industry throughout the MENA region.
The inaugural Dubai Music Week in 2013 was a resounding success, organized with support from Dubai Calendar, Emirates as the official partner, and Pepsi as the official sponsor. This groundbreaking event in the MENA region brought together major music labels, artists, and vendors to showcase their offerings and unveil new initiatives to key industry figures and fans alike. Highlights included the Pepsi Band Slam, The Music Exhibition, Quincy Jones Seminars, live concerts, and the Midem Music Conference and Workshops. The Pepsi Band Slam was particularly notable, featuring popular bands from Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, thereby celebrating the rich diversity of local musical talent.
The event attracted a diverse audience of musicians, producers, managers, journalists, labels, app developers, and content creators from around the globe. Industry legends such as Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton, and Bruce Swedien led seminars, with esteemed music journalist Ben Fong-Torres moderating. Additionally, a Producers Panel featuring Quincy Jones, Timbaland, and Will.i.am provided valuable insights into music production and evaluated a talent competition.
