Facts About Middle East Film and Comic Con
The Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) is an essential annual event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, typically held in March. What began as a gathering for comic book, science fiction, and fantasy enthusiasts has now flourished into a vibrant celebration of all things pop culture. Whether you’re passionate about horror, animation, anime, manga, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, or fantasy novels, MEFCC offers something for everyone.
However, MEFCC is not solely focused on international pop culture; it also highlights regional content. Attendees can discover local treasures like Xero Error, Freej, FOBCity, Gold Ring, The Sons of Two Suns, and many more.
As the first and largest convention of its kind in the Middle East, MEFCC boasts a rich program that includes panels, seminars, and workshops led by industry professionals. Attendees can enjoy previews of upcoming films, have their portfolios reviewed by comic book companies, and even participate in a cosplay contest.
Over the years, MEFCC has welcomed a star-studded lineup of celebrities, including Jason Momoa, John Rhys-Davies, Gillian Anderson, William Shatner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Anthony Mackie, and Liam Cunningham.
Launched in April 2012 by ExtraCake PRA and The Alliance, a Dubai-based events management and communications agency, MEFCC was acquired by Informa Canada Inc. in 2018. This transition has only propelled the convention to greater heights, making it a highlight on the global pop culture calendar.
