Green Man Festival

The Green Man Festival is a cherished, independent music and arts event that takes place every mid-August in the breathtaking Brecon Beacons of Wales. Since its inception in 2003, it has grown into a four-day celebration that draws up to 25,000 attendees. The festival features a dynamic blend of live music, literature, film, comedy, theatre, and poetry, spread across 10 uniquely themed areas, each offering its own array of activities and entertainment.

One of the festival's standout features is its commitment to ethical and environmental practices. The Green Man Festival eschews commercial sponsorships, opting instead to highlight local Welsh food and drink vendors. The festival also champions sustainability by utilizing solar power and eliminating single-use plastics.

Each year, the festival boasts an eclectic lineup of musicians and artists. In 2019, headliners included Stereolab, Four Tet, and Idles. The 2020 lineup was set to feature Caribou, Goldfrapp, and Michael Kiwanuka. Over the years, the festival has hosted performances from renowned acts such as Fleet Foxes, War on Drugs, and Public Service Broadcasting.

Green Man has earned numerous accolades for its non-corporate, ethical approach. It was named "Best Medium-Sized Festival" in 2010 and "Grassroots Festival" in 2012. The festival's positive impact on the local community and economy has even been recognized by the Welsh Government, which has granted it major event status.

The Green Man Trust, the festival's charitable wing, plays a significant role in supporting community projects and emerging artists. The festival also hosts Green Man Rising, an annual band contest, and organizes events like the Boat Party on the River Thames and the Courtyard bar in London. Additionally, the festival celebrates Welsh culture through special events such as 'Hwyl' and Busk On The Usk.
