HMY Britannia, Edinburgh

HMY Britannia, a former royal yacht of the British monarch, is now a cherished attraction docked in the historic city of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Launched on April 16, 1953, and commissioned into service for Queen Elizabeth II in January 1954, this majestic vessel served the Royal Family for over 44 years, traveling more than a million nautical miles around the globe.

This iconic ship, a floating residence for state visits, official receptions, and royal family holidays, has now been transformed into a museum since its decommissioning in 1997. Moored permanently at Ocean Terminal, Leith, Britannia offers visitors a unique glimpse into the public and private lives of the British monarchy.

With an impressive length of 126 meters, the yacht comprises five main decks that are open to the public. Visitors can explore the State Apartments, the Crew's Quarters, and the Engine Room, among other areas. The Royal Deck Tea Room offers a chance to relax and enjoy refreshments while taking in views of the waterfront.
