Seven Foot Knoll Light, Baltimore

The Seven Foot Knoll Light is a historic beacon situated in the city of Baltimore, United States. This lighthouse, one of the oldest screw-pile designs in the country, was constructed in 1855 and originally stood at the mouth of the Patapsco River on the Chesapeake Bay. Its purpose was to guide mariners safely through the treacherous waters, marking the entrance to Baltimore's harbor.

Standing on a circular wrought iron foundation, the lighthouse is an iconic example of pre-Civil War architecture. It was named for the depth of water at its original location, which was a mere seven feet.
