When Is the Best Time To Visit Uruguay?

Tourist Season in Uruguay
Uruguay is best visited in the summer from December to February, it is warm and dry then. This is an excellent time for sightseeing and organized hiking. The coasts are in season for beachcombing and sea bathing.
The autumn (March-May) and spring (September-November) months are a bit cooler and rainier, but this is still a very good time to visit.
In contrast, the cool and rainy winter season (June-August) is outside the tourist season. Travel during this time may bring a bit of complication, but is not out of the question.

The autumn months bring a drop of several degrees in temperatures and a bit more cloud cover and fleeting rainfall. Despite this, you can still count on a large dose of sunshine.

Starting at the end of January, the "Montevideo Carnival" attracts tourists from all over the world. Full of dancing, street parades and fireworks, it is the longest carnival in South America and lasts until early March.
