When Is the Best Time To Visit Uruguay?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Uruguay depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Climate of Uruguay
Uruguay lies in a subtropical maritime climate zone. Due to its uniform, flat terrain, there are no climatic contrasts. During the year we can distinguish four seasons: summer, autumn, winter and spring.
Winter, which lasts from June to August, is mild, and frosts are rare. From the southwest, the "Pampero" winds blow, causing temperature drops. In the coldest months the temperature is 10°C - 12°C.
Summers covering the period from December to February are warm. Currents from over Brazil flow in then, raising the temperature, which in the warmest months is 24°C - 27°C.
Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) are relatively cheerful, with temperatures oscillating between 20°C and 25°C.
Precipitation throughout the country is quite high, ranging from 1,000 mm - 1,500 mm. The wettest regions are the north (around Rivera) and the coast (Montevideo area). Rainfall occurs throughout the year, but a slightly higher intensity is recorded from June to August.
