Asrlar Sadosi Festival of Traditional Culture

Asrlar Sadosi is a vibrant festival that celebrates the rich tapestry of traditional Uzbek culture. Since its inception in 2008, this annual event has been organized by the Fund Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan in collaboration with UNESCO. Each year, it attracts tens of thousands of locals and tourists from around the globe.

The festival is a lively showcase of Uzbekistan's diverse traditions, customs, and crafts. Visitors can enjoy an array of activities, including competitions featuring folklore bands and folk storytellers, traditional music concerts, fashion shows with national dress, folk games, horse sports, wrestling matches, cockfights, and performances by various artists.

The first Asrlar Sadosi festival was held near Shahrisabz, the birthplace of the legendary Amir Timur. Since then, it has traveled to various historically and culturally significant regions of Uzbekistan, such as Khiva, Bukhara, and Karakalpakstan. Each location adds its unique flavor to the celebration, bringing together artisans, chefs, designers, and cultural enthusiasts to honor Uzbek heritage.

In 2013, the festival took place in the picturesque Sarmishsai Gorge. This edition featured a wide range of events that highlighted Uzbekistan's cultural and historical legacy. The festival attracted a significant international audience with performances by folk groups, exhibitions of handmade crafts, culinary demonstrations, horseback riding games, and wrestling tournaments. Additionally, international conferences on topics like culture in sustainable development and architectural epigraphy were held, adding an educational dimension to the festivities.
