Facts About Longevity Brand
Longevity Brand is a popular canned condensed milk distributed by Sun Hing Foods, Inc. in the U.S. and Canada, under the registration of Friesland Campina. This sweet product is essential in Vietnamese iced coffee and a variety of Vietnamese desserts. Originally known as Sữa Ông Thọ, it was a favorite in the Republic of Vietnam before 1975 and was produced by Friesland Foods. The name "Ông Thọ" pays tribute to the Vietnamese deity of Longevity (Shou).
Following the Fall of Saigon in 1975, the communist regime nationalized the Sữa Ông Thọ factories, and production continued under Vinamilk in Vietnam. Despite this change, Friesland Foods persisted in manufacturing Sữa Ông Thọ, rebranded as Longevity Brand, for the North American market, targeting Overseas Vietnamese communities. Today, this product is available in Asian supermarkets and increasingly in mainstream supermarkets across North America. Sun Hing Foods, Inc. serves as the exclusive distributor for Longevity Brand in these regions. In 2002, Friesland Campina initiated legal action against Vinamilk over the brand's usage in the U.S.
