Facts About Ghapama
Ghapama is a cherished Armenian dish that becomes particularly popular during the Christmas season. Picture a pumpkin carefully hollowed out and filled with a delectable mixture of boiled rice and a variety of dried fruits, such as almonds, apples, cornels, apricots, plums, dates, prunes, and raisins. To enhance its flavor, honey is often drizzled over the stuffing, accompanied by a sprinkling of ground cinnamon or sugar before baking the pumpkin until it reaches perfect tenderness. Once ready, the Ghapama is brought to the table, sliced, and served to everyone. There is even a lively Armenian song titled "Hey Jan Ghapama" popularized by Harout Pamboukjian, which celebrates this festive dish.
