Industrieviertel-Museum, Wiener Neustadt
Facts and practical information
The Industrial Quarter Museum is located in the city of Wiener Neustadt at Anna-Rieger-Gasse 4.
At this location there was a hammer mill with an adjacent workshop building. The hammer mill was demolished, the foundation from the heavy anvil and some architectural stones and workshop stones are preserved on the forecourt of the museum. The adjoining workshop building could be preserved, is now a listed building and serves as a museum today. The ground-level workshops form a courtyard, with the central street wing above the courtyard entrance having an upper floor.
The initiator and former director of the museum Karl Flanner was able to build up this museum as an employee in the city archive of Wiener Neustadt and opened it in 1982.
After the sale of the house in Anna-Rieger-Gasse, all holdings were examined and inventoried. The museum is moving to a show depot in the city center, and the move is expected to be completed during 2021.
