Old Cathedral, Linz

Nestled in the heart of Linz, the Old Cathedral, also known as the Ignatiuskirche after its patron Saint Ignatius of Loyola, stands as a beacon of historical and architectural significance. This church, which was the city's main cathedral until 1909, offers visitors a glimpse into the Baroque era with its intricate designs and spiritual ambiance.

Constructed between 1669 and 1683 under the patronage of the Jesuit Order, the Old Cathedral is renowned for its stunning architecture. Its façade, adorned with ornate statues and carvings, welcomes worshippers and tourists alike into a space of tranquility and reverence. The interior is equally impressive, with its high vaulted ceilings, grand marble altar, and an array of exquisite frescoes that depict scenes from the life of Saint Ignatius.
