War Memorial, Andelsbuch
Facts and practical information
The Andelsbuch war memorial stands on the main square in front of the main entrance to the parish church in the Bregenzerwald community of Andelsbuch. It is listed as a historical monument.
The war memorial was erected in the interwar period between 1918 and 1938. It consists of a three-part raised stone base with bronze plaques with inscriptions. On the middle marble tablet is written: "To our heroes of the World War - 1914-1918 - dedicated by the community of Andelsbuch". Below it can be read: "The war cannot separate us forever". The left and right bronze plaques list the victims in the community of the Second World War. The center stone pedestal is topped by a group of bronze figures depicting a woman and child trying to stop a soldier from going off to war. The sculpture was created by Georg Matt in 1929.
In 2012, the monument had to be renovated due to weather conditions after a crack appeared in the base.
