Facts and practical information
Mount Pétain is located on the border of Alberta and British Columbia on the Continental Divide. It was named in 1918 after the then-to-be Nazi-collaborator, Marshal Philippe Pétain, who was then an honoured war hero for the Allies of World War I. The name was retained despite the later reversal in Pétain's reputation after his having been Head of State of Vichy France and being partly responsible for the murder of 76,000 Jews. ()
