The Pablo Neruda Railway Museum of Temuco, which contains in its interior the Temuco Engine House, which along with its access rails is a national monument, is located on Barros Arana Street, between Valparaíso and Bascuñán, in the city of Temuco, in the Araucanía Region, Chile. It was inaugurated in February 2004, when President Ricardo Lagos donated the presidential car.
The Temuco Powerhouse was declared a National Monument of Chile, in the category of Historic Monument, first by Supreme Decree No. 582 of December 1, 1989, and then extended by Supreme Decrees No. 529 of September 20, 1995; No. 187 of April 1, 1996; No. 769 of July 20, 1998 and No. 20 of January 17, 2000.
In 1998, it was inscribed on Unesco's tentative list of World Heritage Sites, and since 2014, it has been part of the Heritage Route Huellas de Pablo Neruda.
