The Christ of Havana is an imposing statue that graces the skyline of Havana, Cuba. Towering 20 meters in height, this majestic sculpture of Jesus Christ is a landmark that watches over the city and its harbor from its perch on the hill of La Cabaña. Created by the renowned Cuban sculptor Jilma Madera, the statue was inaugurated on December 24, 1958, just a few days before the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
The statue is made of white Carrara marble, the same material used for many of the world's most celebrated sculptures, and consists of 67 pieces brought from Italy.
