Czech Brethren evangelical church, Cieszyn
Facts and practical information
The Church "Na Rozwoju" in Czech Cieszyn - a Lutheran church, used by the congregation of the Evangelical Czech -Baunty church of Augustburg Confession in Czech Cieszyn.
After the creation of the Czech city of Cieszyn in 1920, local evangelicals were cut off from the border from the Jesus' Church. In 1923 they met to choose a pastor who was Paweł Zahradnik from Kojkowice. Propolian evangelicals did not agree with this choice, who in time led to the creation of a separate congregation and the construction of their own church "in Niwy". The congregation led by Paweł Zahradnik, having greater funds and support of the authorities in 1926 joined the German Evangelical church in the Czech Republic, Moravia and Silesia.
The church built in 1927 according to the design of Wilhelm Schön and Józef Kozł, in an expressionist style, stood on the Square of Marcin Luther, in the District District. The bas -relief of dr. Marcin Luther is located on the wall standing next to the church of the parish house. After World War II, the property of the German Evangelical Church was confiscated and the owner of the church "on development" became the Evangelical Czech -Baunty Church, previously using the church lying nearby on ul. Frydecka.
Construction is a basilic type, with a wide nave, with a facade with a massive tower hidden tent helmet with a belfry. The entrance has a three -axis portico, supported by a series of arcades with convex zigzags. The interior is three -nave. The vault of the nave is decorated with false coffers with contrasting black -brown decoration. The presbytery is separated, and in the aisles there are Pawłacze.
