The Bishop's Palace in Olomouc - a Romanesque building located near the cathedral, at Václavském Náměstí in Olomouc, the Czech Republic. Preserved only partially. Currently an archdiocesan museum.
Built around 1141 near the new bishopric headquarters in the newly created cathedral of St. Wacław by the then Olomouc bishop, Henryk Zdík. The three -storey building had three wings surrounding the courtyard. In addition to the bishop's headquarters, he also served as the headquarters of the chapter and episcopal consistory. With the death of Bishop Zdík, he lost both functions and was taken over by the cathedral school.
In the 13th century it was destroyed by fires. In the mid -fourteenth century, a Gothic Ambit was built in the place of the Romanesque Cross corridor. In the years 1435–1441 the Gothic chapel of St. John the Baptist.
In 1867, Karl Biefel accidentally discovered the Romanesque windows of the episcopal palace, taking them as the remains of the Old Castle Przemyślidów.
To this day, the west and southern wall have survived, as well as the east wing of the building. The preserved elements of the palace are considered one of the greatest works of Romanesque residential architecture.
