The Jewish cemetery in Vlachovo Březí is located on the northern outskirts of the town of Vlachovo Březí, Prachatice district. It is accessible by a small path from the bend of Komenský Street in front of the primary school or by a street and later a dirt road turning left past the library from the Pražská road to Újezdec.
The cemetery, which has an area of 1378 m2, was founded before 1692 and the last burial took place here in 1932.
In 1963, the cemetery, which preserves about 170 tombstones, was declared a cultural monument.
The inscription on the stone gate reads: Mene, tekel.. time calls, here we will all meet again.To the field of the dead, where there is peace, all the people look with respect.On the cemetery grounds grow two monumental trees, jointly protected since 1990. As of February 21, 2017, the protection has been lifted due to windstorm damage and disease infestation.
The independent Jewish community ceased to exist on 30 June 1893 after the reorganisation of Jewish religious communities on the basis of Act 57/1890 Coll.
