The Futurum Brno shopping centre was opened in October 2001 in the north-west of the Brno cadastral area of Dolní Heršpice in the Brno-jih district. Among other things, it houses a Tesco hypermarket, which was originally used by Carrefour. The 35,000 sqm centre was originally owned by a consortium of companies Euro Mall Ventures from the Heitman group, but was bought by Julius Meinl in 2005. It was later taken over by Israeli investment company Gazit Globe and renamed Atrium European Real Estate. The mall consists of two parts: an oval single-storey retail building and an adjacent two-storey covered car park. The building is managed by Manhattan Real Estate Management s.r.o. based in Prague.
OC Futurum Brno is one of four centres of the Futurum chain in the Czech Republic the others are OC Futurum Hradec Králové, OC Futurum Ostrava and OC Futurum Kolín.
