The Jewish cemetery is located in the town of Volyně in the district of Strakonice in the street U vodojemu I. It was founded in the 17th century and was last enlarged in 1870. It was founded in the 17th century and last expanded in 1870. The oldest tombstones, up to 300 years old, are made of white marble, the oldest legible tombstone dates back to 1689. The last burials here took place before the Second World War. A symbolic tombstone commemorating those martyred in the concentration camps was erected near the former cemetery caretaker's house.
In 1912 the cemetery wall and monument were repaired and a house for the cemetery caretaker was built, later adapted for residential purposes; further repairs were carried out in 1988. The cemetery covers an area of 1357 m², is locked and opens on request. It is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
