Castle Theater in Český Krumlovie - the theater is located in the Krumlów castle in the Czech Republic, in the South -South Country.
This is one of the two oldest theater facilities in the world with preserved equipment from the second half of the 18th century. The second is located in Drottningholm, Sweden, which was built in 1764 by Queen Ludwik Ulryk Hohenzollern, wife of King Adolf Fryderyk.
In 1675, Jan Kristián from Eggenberg arranged the first theater stage in one of the Krumlów castle's rooms. In the years 1680–1682 in the 5th Castle courtyard he built a new baroque theater building. Prince Josef Adam of Schwarzenberg modernized the building in 1765–1766. The painters: Hans Wettschel and Leo Märkel took part in the renewal of the interior and decoration. Technical devices, with which individual decorations, curtains were changed in about 10-12 seconds, was controlled by collapses or lighting, made by the Viennese carpenter Lorenz Makh.
The building was closed to the audience in 1966–1997. After renovation in 1997, it was periodically made available to visitors.
