NPP Rudické propadání
Facts and practical information
The Rudice sinkhole is located in the central part of the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area north of the town of Brno, near the villages of Jedovnice and Rudice. Together with Býčí skála, they form the second longest cave system in the Czech Republic, with a total length of over 13 kilometres.
Sinking of the Jedovnice stream - Rudice sinking is the most massive sinking in the Moravian Karst. The waters of the Jedovnický Brook gradually fall to a depth of 90 metres. One of the highest waterfalls in the Czech Republic can be found in the sinkhole. The cave also contains the Rudická Abyss, the deepest Czech dry abyss, and the Giant Dome, one of the largest cave spaces in the Czech Republic. The Serbian siphon connects the cave with the Bull Rock.
The rock formation Kolíbky, which is a favourite place for climbers and filmmakers, is immediately adjacent to the Rudice Depression.
