Baladi cheese

Baladi cheese is a delightful soft, white cheese that originates from the Middle East. Celebrated for its mild yet rich flavor, this cheese is slightly higher in fat compared to other varieties, such as Syrian cheese. Its soft and creamy texture makes it less chewy and more palatable.

The name "Baladi" translates to "local" which reflects its traditional origins. Often referred to as the "cheese of the mountains" it is crafted by local shepherds in the highlands of Lebanon. This traditional cheese is made from a blend of goat, cow, and sheep’s milk and is typically unpasteurized and uncultured.

Due to its diverse microflora and high moisture content, Baladi cheese has a short shelf life, lasting only about three days. Its unique characteristics and rich history make it a special delicacy, best enjoyed fresh.
