Propriété Caillebotte, Yerres
Facts and practical information
The Caillebotte property is a property that belonged to the family of the painter Gustave Caillebotte and his brother Martial. It is located in Yerres in Essonne. The Caillebottes stayed in this property from 1860 to 1879.
Typical of the 19th century, it was laid out in the 1830s in the "English" style, with an irregular layout. Today it is open to the public and is as much a place of rest as an invitation to discover a rich historical heritage: the famous ornamental factories that dot its beautiful park and which have almost all been restored. Visitors can satisfy their curiosity by following in the footsteps of Gustave Caillebotte himself, since it was here, in the family vacation home, that the painter set up his easel in the open air, painting nearly ninety canvases during the summers of the 1870s.
