Église Notre-Dame Sainte-Marguerite
Facts and practical information
The Sainte-Marguerite church is a Catholic parish church located in Glaignes, France. Despite a still Romanesque appearance and its round-headed windows, it was built in several campaigns close together in the early 13th century, in the early Gothic style. Chapels were added shortly after completion, to the north and south of the right choir bay. The church of Sainte-Marguerite is characterized by a solid construction; a well-composed façade; a Romanesque bell tower, characteristic of the region; a beautiful homogeneity; and by the monumental effect of its nave. Although it was built economically and designed not to be vaulted, it appears elegant and slender, and its large arches with their quality capitals are remarkable. The church was classified as a historical monument by decree of October 22, 1913. Today it is affiliated to the parish of the Automne valley with its seat in Verberie. Sunday masses are occasionally celebrated there on Sundays at 9 am.
