Church of Our Lady
Facts and practical information
The church Notre-Dame is a Catholic church located in Trumilly, France. As a reminder of the first Romanesque church of the village and as a witness of its antiquity, it keeps a portal of the end of the 11th century. Otherwise, the church is the result of the Gothic transformation of a second Romanesque church from the first half of the 12th century. A new radiating Gothic choir was built between 1230 and 1240, showing an architectural research and a quality of execution rare for a small rural church. The southern crosspiece was rebuilt shortly afterwards, and the old parts were reworked and vaulted with ogives. Despite the six construction campaigns that can be identified, the whole appears quite harmonious. The bell tower, although not far removed from some of the simple Romanesque bell towers of the region, was completely rebuilt shortly before the French Revolution. Overall, the church of Trumilly is very well preserved and never underwent any major restoration until the end of the 20th century. In addition to the architectural quality of the chancel, it is above all its authenticity that makes the building remarkable. It was classified as a historical monument by order of July 22, 1914. The church of Notre-Dame is now affiliated with the parish of Saint-Sébastien de Crépy-en-Valois.
