Notre-Dame des Vernettes, Les Arcs
Facts and practical information
The sanctuary of Notre-Dame des Vernettes is located on the territory of the commune of Peisey-Nancroix in Savoie. It was built in the 18th century.
High place of devotion since the XVII century, a great pilgrimage takes place there every July 16th during which the statue of the Virgin of Pity is carried in procession with devotion.
Overlooking the valley of the Ponthurin, the sanctuary consists of a large chapel housing the Virgin of Pity, as well as, below, at the end of a wooden way of the cross, a small chapel next to a reputedly "miraculous" spring.
The sanctuary is located at the foot of the Aiguille Grive and faces the Bellecôte massif, whose summit rises to 3,417 m.
