Château de Montmarin, Pleurtuit
Facts and practical information
The castle of Montmarin was built in 1760 by Aaron Magon du Bosc. It is located in the commune of Pleurtuit in Ille-et-Vilaine, not far from Saint-Malo.
However, the Montmarin does not conform to the classical scheme of the malouinière: its architecture, with its main building very high in relation to the roof on the courtyard side and its roofs inverted hulls on the garden side, does not link it to this category of local architecture which is the transposition to the countryside of the hotels of Saint-Malo intra-muros, characterized by an austere facade, high chimneys with shoulders, a high roof, with a strong slope and hipped.
The castle dominates the estuary of the Rance.
