Facts and practical information
The Barrès monument, or sometimes Barrès column, is a lantern of the dead inaugurated in 1928 on the signal of Vaudémont, at the top of the hill of Sion, in honor of the writer Maurice Barrès, who had celebrated the hill of Sion in his novel The Inspired Hill. The monument is the work of landscape architect Achille Duchêne, who drew much of his inspiration from Fenioux's Lantern of the Dead.
