Flower Market Queen Elizabeth II, Paris
Facts and practical information
The Queen Elizabeth II Flower Market, formerly the Cité Flower and Bird Market, is a specialty market in Paris.
Installed on the Ile de la Cité, it has known several configurations. From 1809, it was first an open-air flower market, replaced in 1873 by metal pavilions, as part of the Haussmannian works. They were destroyed in 1905 to allow the construction of the adjacent Cité metro station. Temporary canvas shelters were then installed and it was not until 1924 that new pavilions were built, which are still the structure of the market today.
