St. James Church, Aubeterre-sur-Dronne
Facts and practical information
The Saint-Jacques church is a parish church located in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, in the department of Charente and the diocese of Angoulême. This former collegiate church, almost entirely destroyed during the wars of religion, nevertheless retains a monumental facade borrowing from the Romanesque style of Saintonge and Poitevin. Like the nearby monolithic church of Saint-Jean, it was a stopover for pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostela.
The portal of the church is classified as a historical monument by the list of 1862.
