Portsall is a coastal town in the commune of Ploudalmézeau, located in the northwest of Finistère on the Iroise Sea. Its inhabitants are the Portsallais.
In 1951, the parish of Port-Sall, dedicated to Our Lady of the Scapular, was created on the territory of Ploudalmézeau.
This port is famous for its rocks but especially for the Amoco Cadiz shipwreck in 1978. This giant super tanker ran aground one day during a storm and polluted more than 150 km of coastline.
