Port de plaisance du Château, Brest
Facts and practical information
The Port du Château is Brest's new marina, located at the foot of the Brest castle and intended to serve as a port of call for visitors and as a port for major sailing competitions. Its location to the west of the city is more suitable for these uses than the Moulin-Blanc marina, located to the east, further inland from Brest harbor and now dedicated to welcoming local boaters.
Brest has chosen to pay tribute to these record-holding sailors by creating a walkway materialized by nineteen bronze plaques marked with their handprints and placed all along the Éric Tabarly quay. The bronze plaques were made by the Sulmon foundry located in Plabennec. From the casting of the handprints to the polishing of the bronze plate, three and a half days were necessary. The inauguration took place on September 21, 2013.
